# Defects

> Faults recorded against a vehicle or component.

## Tabs

| Tab                          | Shows                                                                                                                                      |
| ---------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Open Defects** *(default)* | How many defects are open over time, as a stacked bar chart. Headline figures: open defects, and how many have been open more than 90 days |
| **Net Change**               | Defects opened against defects closed per period — whether the backlog is growing or shrinking                                             |
| **Raw Data**                 | The underlying grid, with filtering and sorting                                                                                            |

Both chart tabs offer a **week / month / quarter** cadence toggle. The Open Defects tab can
be regrouped by age bucket, severity, or product group at level 1 or 2.

### Net Change

## Raising a warranty claim

Search and filter defects in the raw data tab, click create claim.
A defect may have **at most one warranty claim**, and every claim originates from a defect.
Raising one copies the defect's title, description, vehicle and component across as a
starting point. This requires **Warranty Manager** — see [Warranty](/pages/warranty).
