# Reporter app

> A7 Reporter, the separate app defect reporters use to report a fault in conversation with an assistant.

Defects are reported on a separate app, **A7 Reporter**, rather than in the main web
application. The reporter describes the fault in their own words and an AI assistant turns
it into a complete defect report, asking for what is missing.

It is a progressive web app served at `/report/`. It can be installed from the browser or
used in any browser tab. It has **no offline mode**: every message goes to the server, so it
needs a connection.

Its default language is Swedish. The language is switched in Settings, and a report keeps
the language it was started in.

## Access

Sign-in is the same as on the [inspector app](https://docs.a7manager.se/pages/inspector-app.md): email and password, or
**Sign in with Microsoft**, then choose a project. Reporting requires the **Defect Reporter**
role in the selected project; a Project Admin or superuser also passes. Anyone else sees a
"No reporting access" screen.

## The screens

| Screen | Purpose |
| - | - |
| **My reports** | Your own reports, drafts first, then submitted ones with their delivery status. The default screen. A draft can be deleted here |
| **New report** | Search for the vehicle by number or type, then start the report |
| **Conversation** | The chat with the assistant, next to the report sheet: every field, filled in as the conversation proceeds. On a phone the sheet is a panel that slides up |
| **Review** | The finished report, grouped into description, asset, classification and diagnostic codes. Submit from here |
| **Settings** | Active project, switch project, language, account, sign out |

A new report cannot be started until the project has at least one severity code configured.

## The conversation

The assistant opens by asking what was observed on the chosen vehicle. The reporter can
tell everything at once; the assistant saves what it can extract and asks only for what is
still missing, **one question per turn**. Where a field has a fixed set of values it offers
them as **tappable choices** instead of asking for free text.

Every field on the sheet can also be edited directly. A direct edit is recorded in the
conversation, and the assistant treats it as fact.

What the assistant collects, and the order it works in, is described under
[How the assistant interviews](https://docs.a7manager.se/pages/reporting-config.md#how-the-assistant-interviews).

## Report status

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Draft** | Being written. Only you can see it |
| **Sending** | Submitted, waiting to be delivered to the maintenance system |
| **Not sent** | Delivery failed. A Project Admin can retry it |
| **Synced** | Delivered. The maintenance system's identifier is shown when it returned one |

## After submitting

* A submitted report is read-only. Only a draft can be edited or deleted. A change to a
submitted report is a new report.

A draft with no activity for 30 days is archived and disappears from the list.
